# Promote to Multiple Cases

If you need to create multiple reports with the same information, you can promote an _Inbox Item_ to multiple _Cases_ at once. Each _Case_ links to the first created _Case_ and the _Inbound Transmissions_ link to the _Inbox Item_. When promoting to multiple _Cases_, Vault skips duplicate detection.

To ensure the created _Case_ is valid, when an _Inbox Item_ does not include reporter, patient, or adverse event information, Vault creates blank primary _Reporter_ type of _Case Contact_, _Patient_, and primary _Adverse Event_ records. Case processors can populate the data as needed.

If the _Localization_ field on the _Inbox Item_ is set to a non-English value, Vault creates domestic _Cases_ instead and appropriately sets the case _Localization_.

If your Admin has configured your Vault to isolate blinded product information on clinical trial study _Cases_, see Promoting Inbox Items for Clinical Trial Cases for additional considerations about _Case_ promotion.

## Promote an Inbox Item to Multiple Cases

1. On the _Inbox Item_ you want to promote, select the **All Actions** menu.
2. Select **Promote to Multiple Cases**. A window appears and asks you to specify the number of _Cases_ you want to create.
3. Enter a value from 1-100 and select **Complete**.

**Result**

Vault skips duplicate detection and creates the specified number of _Cases_ and an _Inbound Transmission_ for each _Case_. Once complete, Vault sends a notification indicating the amount of successfully created _Cases_.

In Vaults with strict _Case_ locking enabled, Vault locks the _Case_ while the action is running.
