# Enable Product Families and Inactive Ingredients for Business Admin Use

Learn how to update your Vault's configuration to enable working with Product Families and Inactive Ingredients as part of your data setup.


## About the Feature

To support more efficient organization, maintenance, and reporting of products, you can now set up Product Families, indicating Therapeutic Area, and Inactive Ingredients with one or more Inactive Ingredient Registrations. Using Product Families enables grouping an Organization's products with the same substance into sets. Adding Inactive Ingredients and Inactive Ingredient Registrations supports reporting.

## Create the Product Family Layout

1. Go to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Product Family > Layouts**.
2. Create the **Product Family Detail Page Layout**.
3. Configure the **Product Family Detail Page Layout** with the following sections and fields:
   * **Section**: _Details_
     * _Organization_
     * _Name_
   * **Section**: _Workflow Timeline_
   * **Section**: _System Information_
     * _Last Modified By_
     * _Last Modified Date_
     * _Lifecycle_
     * _Lifecycle State_
     * _Created Date_
     * _Created By_
     * _Status_

## Create the Inactive Ingredient Layout

1. Go to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Inactive Ingredient > Layouts**.
2. Create the **Inactive Ingredient Detail Page Layout**.
3. Configure the **Inactive Ingredient Detail Page Layout** with the following sections and fields:
   * **Section**: _Details_
     * _Organization_
     * _Inactive Ingredient Name_
   * **Section**: _Workflow Timeline_
   * **Section**: _System Information_
     * _Last Modified By_
     * _Last Modified Date_
     * _Lifecycle_
     * _Lifecycle State_
     * _Created Date_
     * _Created By_
     * _Status_

## Add the Inactive Ingredient Registration Layout

1. Go to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Inactive Ingredient Registration > Layouts**.
2. Create the **Inactive Ingredient Registration Detail Page Layout**.
3. Configure the **Inactive Ingredient Registration Detail Page Layout** with the following sections and fields:
   * **Section**: _Details_
     * _Product Registration_
     * _Inactive Ingredient_
   * **Section**: _Workflow Timeline_
   * **Section**: _System Information_
     * _Last Modified By_
     * _Last Modified Date_
     * _Lifecycle_
     * _Lifecycle State_
     * _Created Date_
     * _Created By_
     * _Status_

## Update Product Registration Layouts to Include Inactive Ingredient Registrations

1. Go to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Product Registration > Layouts**.
2. Select the **Product Registration Detail Page Layout**.
3. Select **Insert Section**, and insert the **Inactive Ingredient Registrations** Related Object section.
    * Optionally, in the **Creation Option** section, select  **Create record in pop-up dialog**.
4. Select **Done**.
5. On the **Product Registration Detail Page Layout**, move the **Inactive Ingredient Registrations** section above the **System Information** section. To rearrange sections, drag and drop.
6. Select **Save**.
