# Replace a Gateway Profile with an AS2 Connection

Learn how to replace an existing _Gateway Profile_ in your Vault with an _AS2 Connection_.

## About Vault Safety AS2 Connections

With the 23R3 release, Veeva Safety _AS2 Connections_ replace Safety Gateways. _AS2 Connections_ provide significant technical improvements including Admin management of Internet Protocol (IP) lists, more concise outbound IP lists, and improved Certificate Management.

If your Vault currently uses a _Gateway Profile_ to communicate with a Health Authority or Partner (destination), we recommend that you create an equivalent _AS2 Connection_ and reconfigure your _Transmission Profile_ to use the _AS2 Connection_ instead of the _Gateway Profile_, as described in this article.

## Create an AS2 Connection

Depending on the destination, you can create and configure an <a href="/en/gr/01451/#create-as2-connection">FDA</a>, <a href="/en/gr/01452/#create-as2-connection">EMA</a>, <a href="/en/gr/01453/#create-as2-connection">Health Canada</a>, <a href="/en/gr/01454/#create-as2-connection">MHRA</a>, <a href="/en/gr/01455/#create-as2-connection">PMDA</a>, or <a href="/en/gr/01458/#create-as2-connection">custom</a> _AS2 Connection_.

## Reconfigure the Transmission Profile

Complete the following steps to switch the _Transmission Profile_ from the _Gateway Profile_ to the _AS2 Connection_.

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Transmission Profiles** and select the _Transmission Profile_ you want to update.
2. Select the **Edit** (<img class="inline" src="https://platform.veevavault.help/assets/images/saf-edit-icon.png" alt="edit icon" style="" />) icon.
3. Update the following fields:
    * **Gateway Profile**: Remove the current selection (select the blank entry at the top of the drowdown list)
    * **Connection**: From the dropdown list, select the _AS2 Connection_ you created in the previous section
4. Select **Save**.

**Result**

The _Transmission Profile_ is configured to use an _AS2 Connection_ instead of a _Gateway Profile_ to communicate with the destination.
