Vault’s UI translations provide localized strings for all non-configurable or static text that appears in the UI and allows Admins to provide translations for configurable text. We also provide translations for default or standard application configurations. We provide full UI translations for the following languages:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Korean
  • Japanese
  • Polish
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Portuguese (Portugal)
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
  • Thai
  • Turkish

Vault allows Admins to enable the following additional languages for translation in their Vault. Customers must manage all translations for these languages. Vault does not provide translations for them:

  • Bulgarian
  • Czech
  • Dutch
  • Danish
  • Finnish
  • Greek
  • Indonesian
  • Latvian
  • Norwegian
  • Romanian
  • Slovak
  • Spanish (Mexico)
  • Ukrainian
  • Vietnamese

Multilingual Document Handling

Multilingual document handling allows Vault to auto-detect the language of new documents and incorporate language-specific elements like word separators, stop words, and word stemming when searching. We provide document handling support for the following Language field options:

  • Arabic
  • Bulgarian
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Hungarian
  • Indonesian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Latvian
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Portuguese (Portugal)
  • Romanian
  • Russian
  • Slovak
  • Spanish (Spain)
  • Spanish (Mexico)
  • Swedish
  • Thai
  • Turkish
  • Ukrainian
  • Vietnamese

Optical Character Recognition

Vault provides optimal OCR performance for English text, but does extract characters for other languages. In Vaults with multilingual document handling enabled, Vault passes the Document Language field with the base Vault language and English when rendering documents.

OCR automatically attempts to extract text on files containing the following supported languages:

  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Korean
  • Japanese
  • Polish
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Portuguese (Portugal)
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Thai
  • Turkish

Vault lists additional languages in the Language field that users can select but that Vault does not support for document handling. Vault cannot detect the document’s language if it is in one of these languages. In addition, Vault search does not perform stop word removal or stemming on text in these languages.

Limitations

Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Character Support

Vault supports all Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) characters included in the Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane, as these only require three bytes to display. Vault cannot display CJK characters that require four bytes, particularly those in the Unicode Supplementary Ideographic Plane.

Emoji Support

Similar to CJK characters, some emoji require four bytes to display. Vault only displays emoji characters that require three bytes.

Localized Vault Help

Vault Help is available in English, Chinese (Simplified), and Japanese. When users navigate to Vault Help (by clicking a “Learn more” link or from the Help & Support page), Vault directs them to the correct version, based on each user’s language setting in Vault. If users have a language other than English, Chinese (Simplified), or Japanese, Vault directs them to the English version.
