# Enable Automated Classification of Inbox Item Significance

Learn how to enable the automated classification of significance for _Inbox Items_ generated by the Safety-EDC Connection.

## About the Feature

With the 24R2 release, Vault can automatically classify _Significance_ values for _Inbox Items_ generated by the <a href="/en/gr/679350/">Safety-EDC Connection</a>
. Vault can classify initial and follow-up _Inbox Items_. After Vault assigns _Significance_, Intake users can prioritize promotion accordingly.

After you have enabled this feature, complete the steps in <a href="/en/gr/869628/">Configure Inbox Item Significance Criteria</a>
.

### 25R2 Update: Safety-EDC Connection: Configurable Significance Rules

With the 25R2 release, you can <a href="/en/gr/869628/">configure _Significance Rules_</a>
 to define how Vault identifies significant and urgent-significant _Inbox Items_ imported from the Safety-EDC Connection, customized for your specific business processes.

### Prerequisites

Before enabling this feature in your Vault, you must complete the following:

* <a href="/en/gr/679352/">Configure the Safety-EDC Connection</a>

* Optional: <a href="/en/gr/740208/#follow-up-options">Enable follow-up options</a>
 for _Case_ promotion settings

## Update the Inbox Item Layout 

Update the _Inbox Item_ <a href="/en/gr/26387/">object layout</a>
:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Inbox Item > Layouts > Inbox Item Detail Page Layout**.
2. Add the **Significance** and **Automation Message** fields.
3. Insert a related object section for the _Significance Result_ object so users can review which <a href="/en/gr/869628/#define">_Significance Criteria_</a>
 rules Vault evaluated when assigning a _Significance_ value.
   1.  Create a <a href="/en/gr/51632/">layout rule</a>
 to hide this section when the _Intake Method_ is not _Safety-EDC Connection_. 
4. Select **Save**.

## Update the Transmission Profile Object Layout

Add the _Enable Auto Significance_ field to the _Transmission Profile_ <a href="/en/gr/26387/">object layout</a>
 for the _Connection_ object type:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Transmission Profile > Layouts > Connection Profile Page Layout**.
2. In the _Inbound Settings_ section, add the **Enable Auto Significance** field.
3. Select **Save**. 

## Update the Safety-EDC Connection Transmission Profile

Populate the _Enable Auto Significance_ field on the <a href="/en/gr/01202/">_Transmission Profile_</a>
 for the _Safety-EDC Connection_:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Transmission Profiles > Safety-EDC Connection**. 
2. Select **Edit**.
3. In the _Inbound Settings_ section, for **Enable Auto Significance**, select **Yes**.
4. Select **Save**.

## Configure the Rerun Significance Criteria Action on Inbox Item {#rerun-action}

We recommend configuring the _Rerun Significance Criteria_ user action so Intake users can manually recalculate the _Significance_ value of _Inbox Items_ marked for follow-up. To do this: 

1. <a href="/en/gr/43127/#assign-actions">Assign</a>
 the action to the _Rerun Significance Criteria_ object.
2. <a href="/en/gr/59885/#define-actions">Create a user action</a>
 on the _Marked as Follow-up_ state of the _Inbox Item Lifecycle_ with a condition to <a href="/en/gr/59885/#conditions">perform conditionally</a>
 when the _Intake Method_ is _Safety-EDC Connection_.
