# Configure Non-E2B File to Inbox Item

You can allow users to create _Inbox Items_ from non-E2B documents, such as literature reports in PDF that were uploaded with the _Case > Source > Literature_ classification. With this configuration, users can also generate _Inbox Items_ from document placeholder records and capture the citation in the _Reference_ field of the document metadata.

## Configure the Create Inbox Item From Document Action

To configure this option, add the _Create Inbox Item From Document_ action on the _Case Source Lifecycle_ document lifecycle for documents in the _Imported_ state. For more information, see <a href="/en/gr/12339/">Defining User Actions for Document States</a>.
