# Enable Automated Acknowledgement of Email to Inbox

Learn how to configure your Vault to send acknowledgement emails to confirm _Inbox Item_ creation for email to inbox intake.

## About the Feature

With the 25R2 release, Vault can send acknowledgement emails to inform senders when Vault successfully generates _Inbox Items_ from their email. After you have enabled this feature, see the following articles for more information:

## Prerequisites

Before configuring this feature in your Vault, you must complete the following:

* <a href="/en/gr/01200/">Configure Email to Inbox Item</a>
* Optional: <a href="/en/gr/726172/">Enable Configurable From Email Addresses for Transmissions</a>

## Update the Transmission Profile Layout

Update the _Inbound Email_ object type <a href="/en/gr/26387/">layout</a> of the _Transmission Profile_ object by adding the _Email Acknowledgement_ field to the _Details_ section so you can specify who receives email acknowledgements for each _Transmission Profile_. 

You can also add the _From Email Address_ field to the _Details_ section to specify the "From" email address Vault uses to send emails related to each profile.

## (Optional) Configure Outbound Email Addresses

You can configure Vault to send emails from customized domains outbound email addresses so that emails appear to be sent from Veeva instead of a sponsor. For more details about using custom outbound domains for emails, see <a href="/en/gr/01204/#custom">Configure Email Transmissions</a>.

## Update Transmission Profiles

Specify who receives acknowledgement emails by populating the _Email Acknowledgement_ field on the applicable <a href="/en/gr/01202/">_Transmission Profiles_</a>. If the _Email Acknowledgement_ value is _None_ or blank, Vault does not send email acknowledgements for _Inbox Items_ generated for that _Transmission Profile_.

You can also specify how Vault populates the sender field on email acknowledgements by populating the _From Email Address_ fields on the applicable <a href="/en/gr/01202/">_Transmission Profiles_</a>. If you leave this field blank, Vault sends emails from the standard Veeva domain.

## (Optional) Customize Notifications

Vault uses the _Automated Email to Inbox Item Response_ notification template to email acknowledgements. You can <a href="/en/gr/2157/">customize the notification template</a> to fit the needs of your organization. You can use the `<img>` <a href="/en/gr/2157/#supported-html">HTML tag</a> to include a logo in the email body.

 Do not remove the following tokens from the notification template, which Vault requires to send the emails:

* `${inbox_item__v.source_doucment_name}`
* `${inbox_item__v.number}`
