# Enable Auto-Update Related Case Identifiers in Case Relationships

Learn how to configure your Vault to update the _Related Case Identifier_ field.

## About the Feature

With the 25R3 release, following changes to the _Related Case_ on a _Case Relationship_ record, Vault can update the _Related Case Identifier_ field with either the _UID_ or the _Worldwide UID_ of the new related _Case_. This eliminates the need to manually update this information when users edit _Case Relationship_ records.

## Update Safety General Settings

To configure your Vault to populate either the _UID_ or _Worldwide UID_ of related _Cases_ in the _Related Case Identifier_ field following changes to _Case Relationship_ records: 

1. Navigate to **Admin > Settings > Safety General Settings**.
2. Select **Edit**.
3. In the _Auto-calculation Settings_ section, select an option in the **Related Case Identifier source (On Edit)** picklist.
4. Select **Save**.

## Related Configuration

You can configure your Vault to populate _Related Case Identifiers_ upon _Case Relationship_ record creation. On the _Case Relationship_ object, <a href="/en/gr/42778/#how-to-set-a-field-default">set a default value</a> for the _Related Case Identifier_ field.
