# Enable Assessment Dechallenge Calculation

With the 25R3 release, Veeva Safety <a href="/en/gr/935474/">calculates _Dechallenge_ values</a> on _Case Assessments_. Vault bases calculations on the _Action Taken_ values on _Case Products_ and the _Outcome_ values on _Case Adverse Events_. While Vault populates _Dechallenge_ fields, users can override the value using the _Dechallenge Override_ field. This feature supports data consistency and reduces manual entry, as well as minimizes the need for you to configure custom logic.

When Vault recalculates _Dechallenge_ values on _Case Assessments_ that include _Dechallenge Override_ values, Vault clears the _Dechallenge Override_ field. If this aligns with your business process, you do not need to update _Safety General Settings_. To configure your Vault to preserve _Dechallenge Override_ values, regardless of _Dechallenge_ recalculations, update the setting.

## Optional: Update Safety General Settings {#settings}

To configure your Vault to preserve _Dechallenge Override_ values, regardless of _Dechallenge_ recalculations:

1. Navigate to **Admin > Settings > Safety General Settings**.
2. Select **Edit**.
3. In the _Auto-calculation Settings_ section, clear the **Reset Dechallenge Override on Dechallenge recalculation** checkbox.
4. Select **Save**.

## Update the Case Assessment Layout

To update the _Case Assessment_ object layout, in the _Details_ section, <a href="/en/gr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">add</a> the _Dechallenge_ and _Dechallenge Override_ fields.

## Add Columns to the Medical Assessments Section

Users can <a href="/en/gr/1745/#add">add</a> the _Dechallenge_ and _Dechallenge Override_ columns to the _Medical Assessments_ section on _Cases_.
