Vault’s default behavior when reclassifying a document will assign a new document number and reset the document status to Draft. However, Admins may change this behavior. In Admin > Settings > General Settings, Admins can enable the Retain Document Status and Number if applicable option. This option is enabled by default in MedComms, PromoMats, and RIM vaults.
When this setting is enabled, Vault no longer resets the document number and document status unless the existing document status or number is incompatible with the new document type. If the new document type uses a different document number format from the old one, Vault will still change the Document Number value. Similarly, if the new document type uses a different lifecycle from the old one, Vault must revert the document’s lifecycle status to Draft.
