# Manage the WHODrug Dictionary

Safety supports the C3 format of the WHODrug Global dictionary. Veeva manages and updates the IDMP-compliant WHODrug dictionary through a central database. To activate or update the WHODrug dictionary, [configure the active dictionary version][2].

Vault also supports:
* Cross-referencing JDrug and WHODrug codes during case processing using the <a href="/en/lr/782230/">WHODrug Cross Reference Tool (CRT) Japan</a>
* Cross-referencing Korea Drug Dictionary and WHODrug codes during case processing using <a href="/en/lr/866963/">WHODrug Link Korea</a>
* Searching, browsing, and coding WHODrug products in Chinese during case processing using <a href="/en/lr/1005234/">WHODrug Global Chinese</a>

## WHODrug Versions

WHODrug releases new versions of the dictionary twice per year: March and September. Veeva updates the Safety WHODrug dictionary within 30 days of the WHODrug release date. Vault labels dictionary versions in the format of `GLOBALC3{Date}`, where `{Date}` is the release date.

If you are using a version of the dictionary that becomes out-of-date and unavailable, you must update to a newer version.

## Activate the WHODrug Dictionary {#activate-the-whodrug-dictionary}

To activate a version so that it is available for use in your Vault:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Dictionaries > WHODrug Dictionary**.
2. Select **Edit**.
3. In the **Active WHODrug Version** field, select the version of the dictionary that you want to activate from the list. If the list of WHODrug versions is out of date, you can [sync the list][1] of available WHODrug versions.
4. Select **Save**.

## Sync List of Available WHODrug Versions {#sync-whodrug}

When the list of WHODrug versions on your Vault is out-of-sync with the latest WHODrug releases, the _Active WHODrug Version_ field will display the following message: `The list of available WHODrug versions is out of sync with the server. Please sync the WHODrug versions to update the list.`

To update the list of available versions:
1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Dictionaries > WHODrug Dictionary**.
2. From the **All Actions** menu, select **Fetch WHODrug Releases**.
