With the 23R1 release, when a new central MedDRA dictionary version is released, you can upgrade your Vault to the latest version. When you make the new version active, all of the global and localized terms, as well as any hierarchy changes, are automatically reflected on Cases and Inbox Items, allowing the required verifications to begin right away. In addition, this feature reduces the manual effort of bulk recoding, which must be completed only for MedDRA terms that have currency changes.

Although this feature is automatically on in all Vaults, you have the option to update the MedDRA Dictionary object layout to include the Latest Loaded MedDRA Version field. This offers an at-a-glance view of the most recent dictionary version that’s available in your Vault.

Update

We have added the following update to this feature:

  • MedDRA Upversion for Business Adminstration: With the 26R2 release, Veeva Safety now automatically updates hierarchical MedDRA terms on Datasheets, Watchlists, MedDRA Queries, and Product-Event Combinations to the latest version during the dictionary upversion process. To avoid confusion, we recommend optionally removing the MedDRA Versions field from the Datasheet Criteria and Watchlist Criteria layouts on the MedDRA Criteria object.

(Optional) Update the MedDRA Dictionary Layout

To update the MedDRA Dictionary object layout to include the Latest Loaded MedDRA Version field:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Dictionary > Layouts > MedDRA Detail Page Layout.
  2. In the Details section, add the Latest Loaded MedDRA Version field and arrange the section fields as follows:
    • Name
    • Dictionary Source
    • slider Active MedDRA Version
    • Latest Loaded MedDRA Version
    • Languages
    • License Key
  3. Select Save.
