# Enable Safety Case Investigation

With the 26R2 release, Vault introduces a standardized framework for Safety Case Investigations. This feature leverages Vault's existing dashboard and analytics tools to support compliance monitoring and audit readiness for all investigational activities. Specific to late case investigations, Safety introduces standard objects, layouts, report types, and lifecycles to support proactive oversight of issues that cause late cases.

## Update Object Layouts

To configure object layouts for late case investigations:

* On the _Safety Case Investigation_ object, <a href="/en/lr/26387/#save-as-layout">copy</a> the standard _Late Case Investigation_ object layout and set it to _Active_. 
    * If applicable, <a href="/en/lr/26387/#delete-a-layout">delete</a> other custom _Late Case Investigation_ layouts.
* <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">Add</a> the following fields to applicable _Case_ object layouts:
    * _Potential Late Reason_
    * _Potential Late Reason Details_
