You can configure safety views to always return the latest Case versions in a Workbench Report, Workbench Dashboard, or Workbench Report Set, or you can provide users the ability to control the latest Case version logic on the report or dashboard.

To configure latest Case version support:

  1. Create a Workbench View Dynamic Join.
  2. Optional: Add filters to the Principal View.
  3. Create a Latest Version Reference Column Join.
  4. Enable latest Case version logic on the associated Principal View.

Prerequisite

Before you can use this feature, you must enable Latest Case Version Support

Create a Workbench View Dynamic Join

From the Principal View’s Dynamic Views Join section, create a Workbench View Dynamic Join to associate the Principal View with the latest version Dynamic View. Ensure you are associating with the custom Dynamic View ending in __c. In addition, you should typically set the Join Condition 1 Foreign Key to the Dynamic View’s Case > ID view column.

Optional: Add Filters to the Principal View

Optionally, add filters and the corresponding Workbench View Column to the Principal View depending on your business needs. The following example filters of the Yes/No column type are configured based on the standard latest version Dynamic View and Supporting View provided by Veeva and include only completed Cases and significant Cases in the results:

  • (Field) Include completed versions only? (operator) equals (value) Yes
    • Select Available on report, Editable, and Required.
  • (Field) Include non-significant versions? (operator) equals (value) No
    • Select Available on report.

Create a Latest Version Reference Column Join

Latest Version Reference Column Joins associate a Principal View’s view column with a Dynamic View’s view column. The following example configures a join for the Case > New Info Date view column:

  1. Navigate to the respective Principal View.
  2. Expand the View Columns section and select Case > New Info Date
  3. On the Workbench View Column page, expand the Latest Version Reference Column Join section and select Create
  4. On the Create Workbench View Column Join page, complete the following information:
    • Latest Version Reference View: Select the custom Dynamic View with latest Case version logic.
    • Latest Version Reference Column: Select Latest Version > Next New Info Date.

Enable Latest Case Version on the Principal View

To enable the latest Case version logic on the associated Principal View

  1. Navigate to the respective Principal View.
  2. In the Details section, the following example enables latest Case version support for the Principal View and its Dependent Views, and grants users the ability to control Case version logic on reports and dashboards:
  3. Select Save.
