# Enable Signal Detection Plans

With the 26R2 release, you can use <a href="/en/lr/1118355/">_Signal Detection Plans_</a> to monitor product safety in a centralized area and to define the methodology for performing signal detection and review scope for a _Product_, _Product Family_, or _Aggregate Reporting Group_.

## Overview

Complete the following procedures to configure _Signal Detection Plans_ in your Vault:
1. [Update the default object type for _Signal Activity_.][1]
2. [Update object layouts][2].
3. [Update object lifecycles][3]. 
4. [Update atomic security][4]. 
5. [Grant permissions][5]. 
6. [Activate document types][6]. 
7. [Optional: Configure tabs][7]. 

## Update Default Object Type for Signal Activity {#default-activity-object-type}

We recommend making the _Signal Activity Quantitative Review_ object type the default on the _Signal Activity_ object: 
1. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Signal Activity**. 
2. Select **Edit**.
3. Set the _Default Object Type_ field to **Quantitative Review**.
4. Select **Save**.
5. Navigate to the **Object Types** tab. 
6. Select **Base Signal Activity**.
7. Select **Edit**.
8. Set the _Status_ field to **Inactive**.  
9. Select **Save**.

## Update Object Layouts {#layouts}

Configure the following object layouts: 
* [_Signal Product Tier_][8]
* [_Signal Detection Plan_][9]
* [_Signal Detection Plan Signature_][10]
* [_Signal Activity_][11]
* [_Signal Activity Search Criteria_][17]

### Update the Signal Product Tier Layout {#product-tier-layout}

To update the _Signal Product Tier_ <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-access-page-layouts">object layout</a>, insert the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#related-object">related object sections</a>:

### Update the Signal Detection Plan Layout {#signal-detection-plan-layout}

To update the _Signal Detection Plan_ object: 

1. Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Signal Detection Plan > List Layout** and reorder the fields as follows:
    * _Name_
    * _Description_
    * _Aggregate Reporting Group_
    * _Product Family_
    * _Therapeutic Area_
    * _Tier_
    * _Plan Version_
    * _Plan Version Effective Date_
    * _Plan Version Summary_
2. Navigate to the **Layouts** tab and select the applicable layout. 
3. Add the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-pages">pages</a>:
    * _Plan Details_
    * _In Effect_
4. On the _In Effect_ page, insert the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#related-object">related object sections</a>: 
    * _Signal Product Profiles_
    * _Signal Reporting Periods_
        * For the _Creation Option_, select **Prevent record creation**
5. After the _Signal Reporting Periods_ section, insert a <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-detail-forms">detail form section</a> as follows: 
    * **Section Label**: Enter `System`
    * **Section Layout**: Select **Detail Form - Two Columns**
6. Ensure the _System_ section includes the _ID_ field. If the layout does not include the _ID_ field, you will not be able to update the _Plan Version Summary_ field.
7. On the _Plan Details_ page, edit the _Details_ <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-edit-sections-and-pages">section name</a> to `Plan Details`. 
8. Ensure the _Plan Details_ section includes the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">fields</a>:
    * _Name_
    * _Description_
    * _Plan Version_
    * _Plan Version Effective Date_
    * _Plan Version Summary_
    * _Plan End Date_
    * _Plan Inactivation Reason_
9. After the _Plan Details_ section, insert a detail form section as follows: 
    * **Section Label**: Enter `Product Details`
    * **Section Layout**: Select **Detail Form - One Column**
10. <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">Add</a> the following fields to the _Product Details_ section: 
    * _Aggregate Reporting Group_
    * _Product Family_
    * _Therapeutic Area_
    * _Tier_
    * _Tier Override Reason_
    * _Product Surveillance Start Date_
    * _Product Surveillance End Date_
11. After the _Product Details_ section, insert related object sections using the following table and then select **Save**:

Optionally, to create _Signal Detection Plans_ for _Products_ in multiple _Therapeutic Areas_ that share common strategies, navigate to the **Fields** tab and select **Allow user to select multiple values** for the _Therapeutic Area_ field.

### Update the Signal Detection Plan Signature Layout {#signal-detection-plan-signature-layout}

To update the _Signal Detection Plan Signature_ <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-access-page-layouts">object layout</a>, ensure the _Details_ section includes the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">fields</a>: 
* _Status_
* _Signature Name_
* _Signer_
* _Signature Time_
* _Signed Record_

### Update the Signal Activity Layout {#activity-layout}

Navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Signal Activity >** **List Layout** and reorder the fields as follows: 
* _Name_
* _Description_
* _Signal Detection Plan_
* _Aggregate Reporting Group_
* _Product Family_
* _Tier_
* _Activity Schedule_
* _Schedule Start Date_
* _Case States to Include_
* _Activity Review Due in Days_
* _Default Workbench Report Set_
* _Default Calculations Setting_
* _Default Workbench Dashboard_
* _Signal Product Profile_

Optionally, you can navigate to the **Fields** tab and select **Allow user to select multiple values** for the _Case States to Include_ field depending on your business needs.

Then, update the following _Signal Activity_ object type layouts:

#### Update the Signal Activity Individual Case Review Layout {#activity-icr-layout}

1. Ensure the _Details_ section includes the following <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">fields</a>:

* _Signal Detection Plan_
* _Therapeutic Area_

Optionally, you can navigate to the **Fields** tab and select **Allow user to select multiple values** for the _Therapeutic Area_ field depending on your business needs.
