# Configure Safety Views for Dynamic Parameter Mapping

When running _Signal Calculations_, Vault can dynamically map filter values from certain object fields; for example, instead of filtering for _Cases_ with a fixed _Product Family_ value, Vault can filter for _Cases_ using the _Product Family_ from the _Signal Reporting Period_.

To use dynamic parameter mapping, you must:

1. [Create][1] _Workbench View Parameters_.
2. [Add][2] _Workbench View Parameters_ to the appropriate safety views.

## Prerequisite

Before you can configure dynamic parameter mapping, you must enable Dynamic Parameter Mapping for Calculations.

## Create Workbench View Parameters {#create-view-parameters}

Create _Workbench View Parameters_:

1. Navigate to **Business Admin > Objects > Workbench View Parameters** and select **Create**.
2. The table below describes example configuration for different parameter mapping scenarios. Use the table as guidance to complete the _Workbench View Parameter_ fields.

<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Dynamic Mapping Scenario
<th>View Parameter Details
<th>Default Value Object
<th>Default Value Object Field

<tbody>
<tr>
<td markdown="span">Map start date filter values from the _Signal Reporting Period_ object's _Start Date_
<td markdown="block">

* **Name**: Enter  `Signal Reporting Period > Start Date`
* **API Name**: Enter  `signal_reporting_period_start_date__c`
* **Column Type**: Select **Date**
* **Allow user to select multiple values**: Select **No**
* **Optional**: Select **No**

<td markdown="span">Enter `safety_investigation_reporting_period__v`
<td markdown="span">Enter `start_date__v`

<tr>
<td markdown="span">Map end date filter values from the _Signal Reporting Period_ object's _End Date_
<td markdown="block">

* **Name**: Enter  `Signal Reporting Period > End Date`
* **API Name**: Enter  `signal_reporting_period_end_date__c`
* **Column Type**: Select **Date**
* **Allow user to select multiple values**: Select **No**
* **Optional**: Select **No**

<td markdown="span">Enter `safety_investigation_reporting_period__v`
<td markdown="span">Enter `end_date__v`

<tr>
<td markdown="span">Map _Product Family_ filter values from the _Signal Reporting Period_ object's _Product Family_
<td markdown="block">

* **Name**: Enter  `Signal Reporting Period > Product Family`
* **API Name**: Enter  `signal_product_family__c`
* **Column Type**: Select **Object**
* **Allow user to select multiple values**: Select **No**
* **Optional**: Select **No**

<td markdown="span">Enter `safety_investigation_reporting_period__v`
<td markdown="span">Enter `product_family__v`

## Add Workbench View Parameters to Safety Views {#add-view-parameters-safety-views}

After creating _Workbench View Parameters_ for dynamic parameter mapping, you must add the view parameters to the appropriate safety views. The following table describes example configuration:

<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>Dynamic Mapping Scenario
<th>Safety View
<th>View Parameters
<th>Filters

<tbody>
<tr>
<td markdown="span">Return _Cases_ with an _Approval Date_ within the _Signal Reporting Period_ start and end date range
<td markdown="span">[_Principal View_]
<td markdown="span">Add the _Signal Reporting Period > End Date_ view parameter
<td markdown="span">Add the following filter: _Approval Date_ > _is in the range (parameter)_ > [blank] - _Signal Reporting Period > End Date_

<tr>
<td markdown="block">

Return _Cases_ with:
* An _Approval Date_ within the _Signal Reporting Period_ start and end date range
* A _Product Family_ matching that of the _Signal Reporting Period's_

<td markdown="span">[_Interval Filter View_]
<td markdown="block">

Add the following view parameters:
* _Signal Reporting Period > Start Date_
* _Signal Reporting Period > End Date_
* _Signal Reporting Period > Product Family_

<td markdown="block">

Add the following filters:
* _Approval Date_ > _is in the range (parameter)_ > _Signal Reporting Period > Start Date_ - _Signal Reporting Period > End Date_
* _Product Family_ > _equals (parameter)_ > _Signal Reporting Period > Product Family_

<tr>
<td markdown="span">Return _Cases_ with a _Product Family_ matching that of the _Signal Reporting Period's_
<td markdown="span">[_Cumulative Filter View_]
<td markdown="span">Add the _Signal Reporting Period > Product Family_ view parameter
<td markdown="span">Add the following filter: _Product Family_ > _equals (parameter)_ > _Signal Reporting Period > Product Family_
