# Enabling Duplicate Content Detection

<a href="/en/lr/21893/">Duplicate Content Detection</a> helps prevent Vault users from accidentally uploading the same file multiple times. When enabled, this feature runs a duplicate content check each time a user creates a new document by uploading a file.

To enable Duplicate Content Detection, you must have a security profile with the _General Configuration: Edit_ permission. Navigate to **Admin** > **Settings** > **General Settings** and select the **Enable Duplicate Content Detection** checkbox.
