# Enable Licensing Check for MedDRA

With the 24R3 release, Veeva Safety verifies the ID and password when upgrading the MedDRA dictionary in your Vault. If the credentials are invalid, Vault displays an error message and does not proceed with the upgrade. This ensures that your organization remains compliant with MedDRA Maintenance and Support Services Organization (MSSO) licensing requirements, preventing unauthorized updates and helping to maintain regulatory standards.

After you have configured this feature, see Manage the MedDRA Dictionary for more information.

## Configure the Validate Dictionary License Action {#action}

To configure the _Validate Dictionary License_ action:
1. Assign the _Validate Dictionary License_ action to the _Dictionary_ object.
2. Add the action as a user action on the applicable _Dictionary lifecycle_ states.

When configured, this action appears only on the _MedDRA Dictionary_ type of _Dictionary_ record.

## Update the Dictionary Layout {#layout}

We recommend updating the _MedDRA Detail Page Layout_ for the _Dictionary_ object to include the _Last Valid License Check Date_ and _Last Valid License Check Status_ fields so you can easily determine the status of your MedDRA license validation.
