# Manage Implementation Strategies

Learn how to manage core and local implementation strategies for your <a href="/en/lr/835593/">_Risk Management Plans_</a>.

## About RMP Implementation Strategies

An implementation strategy is an element of an RMP focused on how to implement a given <a href="/en/lr/835605/">risk measure</a>. SafetyDocs defines implementation strategies as either _Core Implementation Strategies_ or _Local Implementation Strategies_, based on their related _Risk Management Plan_.

## Prerequisite

To use _Implementation Strategies_, your Admin must <a href="/en/lr/801756/">configure your Vault for Risk Management</a>.

## Create a Core Implementation Strategy {#create-a-core-implementation-strategy}

To create a _Core Implementation Strategy_:

1. Navigate to **Risk Management > Core Implementation Strategies**.
2. Select **Create**.
3. Complete the fields on the _Create RMP Core Implementation Strategy_ page, then select **Save**:

                based. If this is the first time measures are being developed, this can be left blank.

                From your document library, select the document that describes the strategy for <em>Risk Measure</em> implementation. The document must be classified as <em>Risk Management > Risk Measure > Implementation Plan</em>.

### Documents Section {#documents-section}

In the _Documents_ section, add any related documents for the _Core Implementation Strategy_ using the <a href="/en/lr/15085/">standard document creation process</a>.

### Risk Measures Section {#risk-measures-section}

If you selected a _Core RMP_ for this _Core Implementation Strategy_, Vault generates _Risk Measure_ records in the _Risk Measures_ section.

To create additional _Risk Measures_ for this _Core Implementation Strategy_:

1. Select **Create**.
2. Complete the <a href="/en/lr/835605/#core-risk-measure-fields">_Core Risk Measure_ fields</a>.
3. Select **Save**.

## Create Local Implementation Strategies from a Core Implementation Strategy {#create-local-implementation-strategies-from-a-core-implementation-strategy}

For each region that requires risk implementation strategies, Vault can create local implementation strategies from a _Core Implementation Strategy_, including all related documents.

To create _Local Implementation Strategies_ from a _Core Implementation Strategy_:

1. Navigate to **Risk Management > Core Implementation Strategies > [Core Implementation Strategy]**.
2. Update the lifecycle state to _Approved_.

After the action finishes running, Vault sends a notification and performs the following actions to create _Local Implementation Strategies_:
- [Copy existing _Local Implementation Strategies_][4]
- [Create _Local Implementation Strategy_ documents][5]
- [Create new _Local Implementation Strategies_ for any _Country_ without an existing record][6]
- [Create _Local Risk Measures_][7]

### Copy Existing Local Implementation Strategies {#copy-existing-local-implementation-strategies}

Vault copies all _Local Implementation Strategies_ from the _Core Implementation Strategy_ in the _Based On_ field of the initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_. For each new _Local Implementation Strategy_, Vault copies all field values from the _Core Implementation Strategy_, with the following exceptions:

| _Product Family_ | The _Product Family_ of the initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_
| _Core Implementation Strategy_ | The initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_
| _Based On_ | The copied _Local Implementation Strategy_
| _Pre Launch Date_ | Vault leaves this field blank
| _Actual Launch Date_ | Vault leaves this field blank

### Create Local Implementation Strategy Documents {#create-local-implementation-strategy-documents}

Using the value in the _Local Implementation Strategies_ field of the initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_, Vault: 

* Creates a copy of each document
* Links each new document to the new _Local Implementation Strategy_

### Create New Local Implementation Strategies {#create-new-local-implementation-strategies}

After creating copies of existing _Local Implementation Strategies_, Vault creates a new _Local Implementation Strategy_ for any _Country_ without an existing _Local Implementation Strategy_, provided the _Country_ meets the following criteria:

* A _Local Implementation Strategy_ does not exist for the _Country_ on the initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_
* The _Product_ on the _Core Implementation Strategy_ is registered in the _Country_
* The _Country_ requires an RMP, as determined by the following logic:
   * If the _Core RMP_ defined on the originating _Core Implementation Strategy_ has no <a href="/en/lr/835593/#core-rmp-type">_Core RMP Type_</a> value, Vault considers all _Countries_ with an _RMP Required_ value of _RMP Required_
   * If the _Core RMP_ defined on the originating _Core Implementation Strategy_ contains a _Core RMP Type_ value, Vault considers all _Countries_ indicated in its <a href="/en/lr/835593/#covered-countries">_Covered Countries_ field</a>

Vault populates any new _Local Implementation Strategies_ as follows:

| _Product Family_ | The _Product Family_ of the _Core Implementation Strategy_

### Create Local Risk Measures {#create-local-risk-measures}
Vault creates new _Local Risk Measures_ for each: 
* _Core Risk Measure_ on the _Core Implementation Strategy_
* _Local Risk Measure_ linked only to a previous _Local Implementation Strategy_ version, also known as a local-only _Local Risk Measure_

Vault populates any new _Local Risk Measures_ as follows:

| _Market_ | The _Country_ of the associated _Local Implementation Strategy_
| _Based On_ | The _Core Risk Measure_ or local-only _Local Risk Measure_
| _Core Implementation Strategy_ | The initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_
| _Local Implementation Strategy_ | The _Local Implementation Strategy_ for the _Market_

## Create a New Core Implementation Strategy Version {#create-a-new-core-implementation-strategy-version}

To create a new version of a _Core Implementation Strategy_ record, navigate to **Risk Management > Core Implementation Strategies > [Core Implementation Strategy]** and select **All Actions > Copy to New Version**.

**Result**

Vault sends a notification after the _Copy to New Version_ action finishes running. When creating a new _Core Implementation Strategy_ record, Vault copies the following records:
- [_Core Implementation Strategy_][9]
- [_Core Risk Measures_][10]

### Copy the Core Implementation Strategy Record {#copy-the-core-implementation-strategy-record}

Vault creates a copy of the _Core Implementation Strategy_ record and sets the fields as follows:

| _Name_ | The name of the copied _Core Implementation Strategy_ record with an appended timestamp
| _Core Implementation Strategy_ | The initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_ record
| _Based On_ | The copied _Core Implementation Strategy_ record
| _Version_ |  Vault adds one (1) major (+1.0) version number to the previous version

All other fields contain the same value as the copied _Core Implementation Strategy_ record.

### Copy Core Risk Measure Records {#copy-core-risk-measure-records}

For each _Core Risk Measure_ on the initiating _Core Implementation Strategy_ record, Vault creates an exact copy of the _Core Risk Measure_ record.
