# Enable Case Approval Due Date

With the 26R1 release, Safety introduces a new _Approval Due Date_ field on _Cases_. This field represents the internal deadline for _Case_ approval, ensuring that Case Processors are immediately aware of the target date necessary to complete processing ahead of the regulatory submission due date. You can configure an _Approval Due in Days_ _Safety Rule Parameter_ in your _Safety Rules_, allowing the Safety Reporting Rules Engine to calculate and populate the _Approval Due Date_ on a _Case_ based on configured regulatory timelines. This automation significantly improves internal compliance and reduces the risk of late regulatory submissions by providing critical visibility into internal processing deadlines.

Once you have enabled this feature, configure an  <a href="/en/lr/01250/#approval-due-in-days">_Approval Due in Days_</a> _Safety Rule Parameter_ for this feature.

## Update Object Layouts

Complete the steps in the following sections to update the _Case_ and _Transmission_ object layouts for this feature.

### Update the Case Layout

<a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">Add</a> the following fields to the _Details_ section of the _Case_ layout:
- _Due Date Rule_
- _Approval Due Date_
- _Approval Due Date Rule_

### Update the Transmission Layouts

<a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-add-object-fields">Add</a> the _Approval Due in Days_ field to the following _Transmission_ object layouts:
* _Submission_
* _Distribution_
* _Early Notification_
