# Revise an Approved Case

When a _Case_ is approved, Vault locks the _Case_ and all of its related data to prevent unapproved updates. The _Reopen Case_ workflow allows you to add non-significant updates before submitting the case, such as non-significant follow-ups.

You can reopen and revise an approved _Case_ only if it does not include any _Transmissions_ in the following states:

* _Completed_
* _E2B ACK Accepted_
* _Sent_
* _Sending ICSR_

If the updates impact a report previously distributed to health authorities or partners, you can <a href="/en/lr/01259/">amend a safety report</a>. For significant updates that require additional processing, create a <a href="/en/lr/01148/">follow-up _Case_</a>.

## Reopen a Case

To reopen an approved _Case_:

1. Navigate to the _Cases_ tab and select a _Case_ in the _Approved_ state.
2. From the **Workflow and State Change** (<img class="inline" src="https://platform.veevavault.help/assets/images/saf-workflow-state-change.png" alt="Workflow State Change" style="" />) menu, select **Reopen Case Version**.

**Result**

Vault unlocks the _Case_ and all of its related data. The _Case_ enters the _Revision_ state and you can enter revisions.

## Revise a Case

To revise a _Case_ in the _Revision_ state:

1. Select **Edit**.
2. Enter the new or changed information.
3. Select **Save**.
4. In the _Make Necessary Changes_ task banner, select **Complete**.
5. In the _Make Necessary Changes_ dialog, select **Complete**.

**Result**

The _Case_ enters the _In Approval_ state and you can complete the <a href="/en/lr/01150/#start-the-approval-task">_Approval_ workflow</a>.
