# Enable Inbox Items

This article provides instructions to update your Vault configuration to use _Inbox Items_.

### 26R1 Update: Automatic Inbox Item Creation for Adverse Event Report Documents

With the 26R1 release, Vault automatically generates _Inbox Items_ when users upload _Case > Source > Adverse Event Report_ classified documents. Vault generates the _Inbox Item_ when the uploaded document renders and populates the _Inbox Item_ document field so users can navigate to the generated record. Vault generates _Inbox Items_ for supported file formats. To turn this functionality off, enable the _Disable Automatic Intake of AER Documents_ intake setting.

### 24R3 Update: Report Type & Seriousness

With the 24R3 release, users can view and filter the _Report Type_ and _Seriousness_ fields on the _Inbox Item_ object record list page. To allow users to modify the _Report Type_ field directly from the _Inbox Item_ object record list page, you must assign _Edit_ permission for applicable permission sets for the object field.
