# Code WHODrug Chinese Products

Vault supports the NMPA-compliant WHODrug Global Chinese for domestic _Case_ and foreign _Localized Case_ processing for China, ensuring coding accuracy and consistency for _External Products_. When processing an _External Product_ on a Chinese domestic _Case_, you can browse and code Chinese data using the _WHODrug Chinese Search_ browser.

Upon selecting a code, Vault populates the _WHODrug Chinese_ field with the relevant data, then populates the _WHODrug_ field with the corresponding English data. Similarly, upon coding a WHODrug English product and populating the _WHODrug_ field, Vault populates the _WHODrug Chinese_ field with the corresponding Chinese data. After saving the _External Product_, Vault maps the Chinese product information to the corresponding _Localized Case Product_.

When you export the _Case_ to an NMPA E2B(R3) file, Vault maps the following values from the _Localized Case Product_ to the following data elements in the <a href="/en/lr/823290/">NMPA E2B(R3) report</a>:
* **Generic Name**: G.k.CN.1 Generic Name 药品通用名
* **Registration Holder/Applicant**: G.k.3.3 Name of Holder / Applicant

## Prerequisites
To code WHODrug Global Chinese products:
* Your organization must maintain a valid <a class="external-link " href="https://who-umc.org/whodrug/whodrug-global/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WHODrug Global subscription<i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a>
* Your Admin must <a href="/en/lr/1005234/">enable WHODrug Global Chinese Browser</a>

To auto-code _External Products_, your Admin must <a href="/en/lr/1007670/">enable WHODrug External Product Auto-Coding</a>.

## Code WHODrug Chinese Product Data {#code}
In the _Case Products_ section of a domestic _Case_ for China, you can code both English and Chinese WHODrug data to an <a href="/en/lr/917562/#products-section">_External Product_</a> in the following ways:
* <a id="search-whodrug-chinese"></a>Under the _WHODrug Chinese_ field, select **Search WHODrug Chinese** (<img class="inline" src="https://platform.veevavault.help/assets/images/icon-binoculars.png" alt="Binoculars Icon" style="" />) to launch the [_WHODrug Chinese Search_ browser][3] and browse product data in Chinese. If the _External Product_ has values in the _Product (Reported)_ and _Country Obtained_ fields, Vault filters product data to those values. Browse for the appropriate product, then select **Code**.
* Under the WHODrug field, select **Advanced Search** (<img class="inline" src="https://platform.veevavault.help/assets/images/icon-binoculars.png" alt="Binoculars Icon" style="" />) to launch the <a href="/en/lr/01165/#whodrug-browser">_WHODrug Search_ browser</a> and browse product data in English. If the _External Product_ has values in the English _Product (Reported)_ and _Country Obtained_ fields, Vault filters product data to those values. Browse for the appropriate product, then select **Code**.
* Depending on your Admin's configuration, if the _External Product_ has an English _Product (Reported)_ value:
    * Select <a href="/en/lr/01165/#auto-code">**Auto-code**</a> under the _WHODrug_ field to auto-code the product.
    * Select **Advanced Search** (<img class="inline" src="https://platform.veevavault.help/assets/images/icon-binoculars.png" alt="Binoculars Icon" style="" />) to launch the _Product Browser_, then select **Launch WHODrug Chinese** to launch the _WHODrug Chinese Search_ browser.

After coding a product, Vault maps the Chinese product data to the _WHODrug Chinese_ field and maps the corresponding English product data to the _WHODrug_ field. When you save the _External Product_, Vault:
* Maps the selected WHODrug product and substance details to the _Case_
    * When the selected product has [multiple substances][5], Vault creates _Substances_ for each value in the _Preferred Name_ [column][4], to a limit of 1,500 characters, based on the cumulative number of characters across all _Substance_ names
* Maps the selected WHODrug product name and manufacturer details to the corresponding _Localized Case Product_ in Chinese

To remove product details, select **Clear Selection** from either WHODrug field. When you clear an _External Product_, Vault:
* Clears the values from both the _WHODrug_ and _WHODrug Chinese_ fields
* Clears any mapping messages
* Deletes all _Substances_ from the _External Product_ after saving
