# Enable MedDRA Bulk Recode for Administrative Maintenance

With the 26R1 release, Safety extends the <a href="/en/lr/01183/">MedDRA Bulk Recode tool</a>, allowing users to identify and replace non-current terms on _Product-Event Combinations_, _Datasheets_, _Watchlists_, and _MedDRA Queries_.

## Prerequisites
To enable this feature in your Vault, you must first enable <a href="/en/lr/01343/">MedDRA Bulk Recode Cases</a>.

To enable bulk recoding for _Product-Event Combinations_, you must first enable <a href="/en/lr/01344/">Signal Management</a>.

## Update the Dictionary Bulk Action Object Layout
To update the _Dictionary Bulk Action_ object layout:
1. <a href="/en/lr/26387/#save-as-layout">Copy the standard layout</a> with the following settings and ensure the new layout is <a href="/en/lr/26387/#object-type-layout">active</a>:
    * **Object Type**: Select **Hierarchy Bulk Recode Action**
    * **Layout Label**: Enter `Hierarchy Bulk Recode Action Layout`
2. Update the new layout as follows:
    * <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-move--orient-object-fields">Move</a> the _Organization_ field to the _System Information_ section
    * <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-move--orient-object-fields">Move</a> the _Hierarchy Level_ and _Scope_ fields to the _Details_ section
    * <a href="/en/lr/26387/#how-to-remove-sections-and-pages">Remove</a> the _Case Inclusion Criteria_ section
3. <a href="/en/lr/26387/#set-a-default-layout">Set the copied layout as the default</a>.
4. <a href="/en/lr/26387/#delete-a-layout">Delete</a> any other existing custom layouts.

## Add the Identify Recode Candidates Action
Add a <a href="/en/lr/59885/#define-actions">user action</a> to the _Active_ state of the _Dictionary Bulk Action Lifecycle_ with the following settings:
* **Condition Type**: Select **Always**
* **Allow the following actions**:
    * Select **Identify Recode Candidate**
    * **Label**: Enter `Identify Recode Candidates`
