# Enable Early Notification Reports

Learn how to configure your Vault to create and send _Early Notification Reports_ for _Cases_.

## About the Feature {#about}

With the 25R2 release, Vault supports the ability to use the reporting rules engine to automate the transmission of early notification (24/48/72 hour) reports to agencies and partners. This feature introduces the _Early Notification Report_ rule parameter and the _Evaluate Early Notification Obligations_ action. When the _Evaluate Early Notification Obligations_ action runs, the Safety rule engine evaluates rules with an _Early Notification Report_ rule parameter and generates the necessary _Transmissions_.

## Overview

Complete the following procedures to configure _Early Notification Reports_ in your Vault:

## Update the Case Layout {#update-case-layout}

To include _Early Notification Reports_ in the _Submissions & Distributions_ section of the _Case_ layout, navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Case > Layouts > Case Page Layout** and edit the <a href="/en/lr/75340/#constrain">reference constraint</a> of the _Submissions & Distributions_ related object to include `early_notification__v`.

## Create the Early Notification Layout {#create-early-notification-layout}

Create an <a href="/en/lr/26387/#object-type-layout">object layout</a> for the _Transmission_ object with the **Early Notification** object type.

## Configure the Evaluate Early Notification Obligations Action {#configure-evaluate-early-notification-obligations-action}

To configure the _Evaluate Early Notification Obligations_ action, <a href="/en/lr/43127/#assign-actions">assign</a> the action to the _Case_ object and add the action as a <a href="/en/lr/59885/#define-actions">user action</a> to the applicable states of the _Case_ object lifecycle.

## Configure the Transmission Object {#config-transmission-object}

To enable the _Send Email Transmission_ action for _Early Notifications_, navigate to **Admin > Configuration > Objects > Transmission** and <a href="/en/lr/32857/#assign">assign</a> the _Transmission Profile Type_ field to the _Early Notification_ object type.
