Copy Patient Information from Existing Case

When you promote an Inbox Item to a Case, you can copy patient information from a previous Case.

Note Depending on your Admin's configuration, object, field, and section labels, lifecycle states, and workflows may differ from the general information on this page. Refer to your organization's business processes for guidance.

About Copy Patient Information

If an Inbox Item includes a patient with an existing Case, during Case promotion, you can copy that patient’s information from the existing Case to a new Case. You control which details are copied. This feature is useful, for example, when a single patient has experienced multiple unrelated adverse events during a clinical trial.

During Duplicate Case Detection, after selecting New Case - Copy Patient Info from the Potential Matches page, the New Case - Copy Patient Information dialog appears.

Consider the following information when copying patient information:

  • Select and deselect the checkboxes to indicate which information to copy from the original Case. See the following sections for details on which fields are copied.
  • Patient Details are always copied.
  • If the new Case includes details also on the original Case, copied data may appear multiple times on the newly created Case. If this occurs, delete the duplicate data.

Note Products with a Drug Role of Concomitant can be copied either to Drug History or Case Products, but not to both. By default, Copy Concomitant products to Drug History is selected. To copy Concomitant Products to Case Products, first deselect Copy Concomitant products to Drug History to enable the Concomitant Products checkbox.

Note Auto-calculation field settings are copied to the new Case.

How Information is Copied to the New Case

See the following sections for how the system maps patient information from the previous Case to the new Case.

  • Copy Patient Details

    Note If the new Case includes patient details, the system applies those values, instead of copying values from the original Case.
