Workbench Dashboards allow you to visualize data for Workbench Reports that depend on the same Principal View. You can configure Workbench Dashboards in the following ways:
Note: Once a Workbench Dashboard is associated with a Principal View (either directly or through Dependent Views), we do not recommend updating the Principal View. If you update the associated Principal View, Vault clears the filters for all users and you must run the dashboard again to display data.
Create Dashboards
A Workbench Dashboard can include up to 50 tabs, each with up to nine components. A component is similar to a Workbench Report and displays data. The tab you are currently viewing is the active tab.
Note: After saving a Workbench Dashboard, you cannot change the view for any Workbench Dashboard Component.
To create a Workbench Dashboard:
- Navigate to the Dashboards tab.
- Select Create.
- In the Create New Workbench Dashboard window:
- Enter a Name and Description.
- Select Continue.
Vault creates a dashboard with a Default tab.
- Add up to nine components to display in each dashboard tab:
- Optional: Select Add Component and in the Add New Component window, add user guidance by creating a text component:
- Enter a Name.
- Select the Tab in which the component appears. This field defaults to the tab you are currently editing, but you can move the component by selecting a different tab.
- From the Component Type drop-down, select Text.
- In the text field that appears, enter user guidance, tips and reminders, or other information according to your business needs.
- Select Add Component and in the Add New Component window, complete the following information to create a table component for visualizing data in chart format:
- Enter a Name.
- Select a View. If a table component already exists on the dashboard, the drop-down displays only views that share the same Principal View. This Principal View defines the available filters on the Workbench Dashboard.
- Select the Tab in which the component appears. This field defaults to the tab you are currently editing, but you can move the component by selecting a different tab.
- From the Component Type drop-down, select Table.
- In the Layout, select fields to display for this component and set column aliases as needed, and then select Confirm. Workbench Dashboard Components can reference up to five Dynamic Views in the Layout.
- Sort data as needed.
- To display fields as links to the respective Safety object record detail page from the Workbench Dashboard Component, select the Show links checkbox. Vault displays links for Object and MedDRA field types only.
- Select Continue.
- Optional: Select Add Component and in the Add New Component window, add user guidance by creating a text component:
- Add tabs as needed:
- Select the Plus (+) icon next to the tabs row and enter a name for the tab.
- Optional: To rename existing tabs, hover over the tab name to select the Actions menu and then select Rename. You can also double-click the tab name.
- Optional: To delete tabs, hover over the tab name to select the Actions menu and then select Delete. You cannot delete tabs that have components.
- Optional: To reorder tabs, drag and drop them.
- Optional: Customize the dashboard.
- Select Save to save the Workbench Dashboard or Save & Run to save the Workbench Dashboard and run all the components in the active tab. Saving the Workbench Dashboard saves any changes made to all tabs.
To ensure the Workbench Dashboard finishes running, avoid the following actions until the run completes:
- Selecting Apply to add new filters to the dashboard
- Switching to another dashboard tab
- Leaving the dashboard page using the back button
