Enable Product Masking Selection for Study Products

Learn how to configure your Vault for clearer Study Product blinding.

About the Feature

With the 23R2 release, for Case Study Products, Studies, and Study Arms, Blinded field values are now consistently Open Label, Unblinded, and Blinded, communicating the blinded state more clearly.

Configure the Study Product Layout

You must replace the standard Blinded field with the app control version. App control fields are denoted by a Slider (app-control) icon. In addition, we recommend renaming the Blinded field to “Masking”.

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Case Product > Layouts > Study Product Page Layout.
  2. In the Blinding Details section, complete the following steps:
    1. Remove the standard Blinded field.
    2. Add the app-control Blinded field.
    3. In the Add Blinded dialog, select the Specify different Label and Help Content checkbox.
    4. In the Label field, change the label from “Blinded” to “Masking”.
    5. Select Done.
  3. Select Save.

Configure the Study and Study Arm Layouts

For the Study and Study Arm objects, the new Blinded app control field is also supported in the Business Admin library. You can use the steps below to replace the standard Blinded field with the new version. Optionally, you can also update the Blinded field label per the instructions below.

Update the Study Layout

Complete the following steps to update the Study layout:

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Study > Layouts > Study Detail Page Layout.
  2. In the Details section, complete the following steps:
    1. Remove the standard Blinded field.
    2. Add the app-control Blinded field.
    3. (Optional) In the Add Blinded dialog, select the Specify different Label and Help Content checkbox and then update the label to “Blinding Type”.
  3. Select Save.

Update the Study Arm Layout

Complete the following steps to update the Study Arm layout:

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Study Arm > Layouts > Study Arm Detail Page Layout.
  2. In the Details section, complete the following steps:
    1. Remove the standard Blinded field.
    2. Add the app-control Blinded field.
    3. (Optional) In the Add Blinded dialog, select the Specify different Label and Help Content checkbox and then update the label to “Masking”.
  3. Select Layout Rules.
  4. On the Layout Rules for Study Arm page, select Blinded.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Update the Apply the following display effects section as follows:
    1. In the Type column, change the value from Fields to Controls. In the Values column, Blinded is removed.
    2. In the Values column, select Blinded.
    3. Select Save.
