About Literature Standard Search Terms

Literature Standard Search Terms are records of queries made in databases to search for related literature. Each Literature Standard Search Term is associated with a particular database, product, and search term.

Each Literature Search Term on a Literature Review record is an instance of a Literature Standard Search Term that was executed at a specific point in time and returned a specific result set.

To create Literature Standard Search Term records, your Admin must either:

Create Literature Standard Search Terms

To create a Literature Standard Search Term record:

  1. Navigate to Business Admin > Objects > Literature Standard Search Terms.
  2. Select Create.
  3. On the Create Literature Standard Search Term page, complete the applicable fields then select Save:
Field Description
Name Enter a name to identify the database query.
Search Group

The Literature Search Group record related to this Literature Standard Search Term. Select a Literature Search Group from the drop-down or select the Advanced Search (binoculars-icon) icon to use filters and refine your search.

Vault uses this value to group Literature Review records when conducting automatic literature searches, such as the PubMed database search.

Product The Product related to this Literature Standard Search Term. Select a Product from the drop-down or select the Advanced Search icon to use filters and refine your search.
Product Family The Product Family related to this Literature Standard Search Term. Select a Product Family from the drop-down or select the Advanced Search icon to use filters and refine your search.
Search Database The database with which this Literature Standard Search Term is registered. Select a database from the drop-down or select the Advanced Search icon to use filters and refine your search.
Search Expression Number

For JAPIC-imported references, enter the unique number associated with this Literature Standard Search Term.

Vault uses this value to identify if a matching Literature Search Term or Literature Standard Search Term record already exists and to populate fields accordingly. For more information on Search Expression Number matching, see Import Literature References from Database Files.

Enable Automatic Search Select Enabled if you want Vault to include this Literature Standard Search Term when conducting automatic literature searches, such as the PubMed database search.
Last Search Date This is a system-managed field that indicates when the Literature Standard Search Term was last included in an automatic literature search.
Search Term

Enter the actual term associated with this Literature Standard Search Term record. This value is used to execute searches.

You can include tokens in this field to replace static search strings with dynamic values when Vault runs an automatic literature search.

This field supports up to 5,000 characters.

Tokens for Search Terms

The Search Term field allows you to configure a dynamic search query using tokens that represent the Product and Product Family field values on the Literature Review record. Every time Vault runs an automatic literature search, Vault replaces the tokens with the most updated value of the fields they represent, eliminating the need for manually updating the Search Term field every time you update these values.

Vault supports the following tokens in the Search Term field:
