About the Feature

The 24R2 release introduces the Case Version Compare page, which allows users to compare different Case versions or Cases. This page highlights key differences between Cases, such as new, modified, and removed data.

After following the enablement steps on this page, Configure the Inbox Item Follow-Up Case Compare Layout provides more information on customizing the fields that appear and can be compared on the Case Version Compare page.

Update the Case Object

Add the Compare Versions action to the Case object and enable it for the applicable object types.

Add the Compare Versions Action

Follow the steps below to add the Compare Versions action:

  1. Go to Admin > Configuration > Objects > Case > Actions.
  2. Select Create.
  3. In the Create Action window, select Compare Versions from the dropdown menu.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. On the Create Action page, we recommend selecting the Available in All Lifecycle States checkbox to display this action for all Case lifecycle states.
  6. Select Save.

Enable the Compare Versions Action for Case Object Types

Follow the steps below to enable the Compare Versions action for the Case (case__v) and Imported Case (imported_case__v) object types:

  1. In the Case object, go to the Object Types tab.
  2. In the top right corner of the page, select Actions.
  3. Select the Actions menu and Edit Object Type Actions.
  4. For the Compare Versions action, select the checkboxes under the Case (case__v) and Imported Case (imported_case__v) object types.
  5. Select Save.

Update Permission Sets

Update the applicable permission sets to grant access to the Compare Versions action and the Case Version Compare page:

  1. Go to Admin > Users & Groups > Permission Sets > [Permission Set].
  2. Go to the Objects tab.
  3. Select Case.
  4. In the Object Action Permissions section, select Edit.
  5. For the Compare Versions action, select the View and Execute checkboxes.
  6. Select Save.
  7. In the applicable permission set, go to the Pages tab.
  8. Select Edit.
  9. For the Case Version Compare page, select the View checkbox.
  10. Select Save.
